In a power transmission, especially in the agricultural field, it is not easy to establish exactly the limit conditions to which the transmission chain will be subjected. To protect the cardan transmission and the operating machine from unforeseen stresses and torques, safety devices are therefore used.

Their use in cardan transmissions makes it possible to significantly reduce the cost of maintenance and repairs. Eurocardan specialises in the production of different types of systems that safeguard power transmission, which are:

Safety devices that fully reset the torque, therefore the device opens and the torque is cancelled until it is restored or the element that activated it, creating the flooding, is removed.

Safety devices that have the function of torque limitation. These are devices which limit the transmitted torque to a fixed value which is the device's calibration value.

Safety devices which act as shock absorbers and which have the function of damping the torque. They consist of rubber discs which contain only any positive and negative peaks, bringing the transmitted torque closer to the average nominal value.

Finally, another safety device is represented by the freewheel which allows the transmission of power in only one direction of rotation. It is mainly used on machines that work at high speed in order to manage the rotation inertia and to avoid damaging the gears.
